Jon Rakipi
Jon Rakipi, advocate and partner, leads the compliance and EU alignment practice. He specialises in financial regulation, personal data protection (GDPR), digital operational resilience (DORA), anti-money laundering (AML/KYC) and gap analysis against EU legislation.
I combine practice with academia: I want to keep learning, to teach others, and to carry clients' cases through to success.

Biography
Jon Rakipi is an advocate and partner at Rakipi & Partners Law Office, where he leads the practice in financial supervision law, compliance, personal data protection and alignment with EU legislation.
He has more than seven years' experience in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) in financial regulation, compliance and internal audit, working alongside the Dutch financial supervisory authorities. He has worked with the rules on investment markets, market abuse, prudential requirements, payments and digital operational resilience, with anti-money-laundering checks, and with files for the approval of directors and qualifying holdings. In data protection he has worked on risk assessments, data processing agreements, controller and processor determination, data breaches and the lawful basis for processing. He also has experience of the Dutch Financial Supervision Act (Wft), collective investment undertakings and investment firms, supervision and enforcement measures, investment disputes, categories of securities, the duty of care towards clients, the regulation of insurers, banks and financial service providers, and sustainable finance and ESG disputes in the financial sector.
He holds an LL.M. in Law, Markets and Behaviour from VU Amsterdam (cum laude), an LL.B. in International and European Law from the University of Groningen and a law degree from the University of Tirana, together with a postgraduate specialisation in financial regulation at the Grotius Academy (Radboud University Nijmegen, 2023–2024). He is an external lecturer in insurance law on the master's programme in actuarial science at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, and in 2025 lectured on EU VAT law for the State Advocate's Office. He has been a member of the Chamber of Advocacy since 2019 and speaks English, Dutch and Italian.
